Instructions
- Make a booking for your desired time. Make sure you have received the booking confirmation email.
- The booking confirmation email contains a link to the door code and inspection form. The code activates 15 minutes before your selected start time.
- Fill out the inspection form through the email link immediately upon arrival.
- Empty the ashes to the metal ash bucket and light the stove. If the sauna is cold, it takes about an hour to heat up. If the ash bucket is full, file a fault report. Never pour hot ashes on the beach or into trash containers.
- Leave the sauna clean for the next user: Take any cans and trash to the trash collection point near the sauna or with you. General cleanliness is sufficient, it's not a requirement to sweep or dry the floor. When leaving, lock the door by holding the lock button and make sure the door locks properly.
Sauna Water
You must carry your own sauna water. You may use the 16 litre water container inside the sauna for carrying. During the summer season, there is an outside water tap near Siipisauna. Only clean drinking water may be used for steam. The use of seawater would seriously damage the stove and other sauna structures due to salt content, and cause a health risk due to the potential presence of cyanobacteria.
Stove and Heating
While firewood is always provided, we recommend bringing your own lighter and starting materials (e.g. crumpled newspaper or fire starters), as firemaking equipment is not guaranteed. When burning wood in the stove, take attention to the position of the ash hatch. The hatch should be slightly open when making a fire, and closed when the stove is hot to prevent overheating. The stove stores heat, so it's recommended to stop adding firewood near the end of the session. When leaving, close the hatch completely. Do not extinguish the fire!
Washing and Swimming
We recommend showering at home before and after using the sauna. Washing oneself or using soap, shampoo or similar products is not allowed in the sauna in order to protect the structure and local nature. There is a swimming ladder on the pier. The water has a slight current at the pier, so swimming is possible even in mild frost. Never swim alone or jump head first in water. Beware of submerged anchor chains on the backside of the pier.
Facilities
There are no changing rooms or toilets in available at the sauna.
Accessibility
The pier is wheelchair accessible with assistance. The walkway is 140 cm wide and has high steps. The floor inside the sauna is not level.
DO NOT BRING SEA WATER INTO THE SAUNA. IF SEA WATER GETS ON THE STOVE, IT DAMAGES THE STOVE AND CAUSES A HEALTH HAZARD.
