Frequently Asked Questions

Can I come to the sauna alone? chevron_right

You can come to the sauna alone, but we especially recommend caution when swimming. Never swim alone, especially in winter. Bring a friend for safety.

What should I do if I mistyped my email address when making the booking? chevron_right

If you realize that you mistyped your email address, please contact us as soon as possible so we can send you the confirmation email.

Can I book the sauna for a longer time or outside of opening hours? chevron_right

Please contact us, and we can look into it.

Is there parking at the sauna? chevron_right

The sauna does not have its own parking area, but there are almost always free 3-hour parking spaces in the adjacent Otaranta parking area.

Where can I get water? chevron_right

You must carry your own sauna water. You can use the 16-litre water containers in the sauna for carrying. During summer, there is an outdoor water tap nearby shown in the instructional video. During winter, get water from your home or some other indoor tap. Sea water must not be used.

Can I use the sauna in winter? chevron_right

Yes! Siipisauna is open year-round. Winter swimming is especially refreshing, but remember safety guidelines and never swim alone or dive under ice. When the sea freezes, swimming may not be possible.

What to do if the water containers are frozen in winter? chevron_right

As the sauna warms up, the ice will slowly melt. You may expedite this by adding hot tap water to the containers. Do not place the plastic containers near the stove or any other intense heat source, as they will melt, even with ice inside them.

How can I make the sauna hotter? chevron_right

Ensure that the ash box is not full. Use smaller logs. Open the ash box slightly. Close the air vent next to the door completely by turning it clockwise.

Are there Wi-Fi or electrical outlets in the sauna? chevron_right

There are USB outlets on the storage shelf for charging your phone. There is no Wi-Fi connection or mains outlets in the sauna. Leave your phone to charge and focus on relaxation!

Why is the electricity not working? chevron_right

As Siipisauna is 100% independently solar powered, the batteries may run out during prolonged periods of bad weather. You can still use the sauna, but there will be no lighting or charging available.
